When you witness to others and when you stand before Jesus Christ, I do not want you to be ashamed of how little truth you have learned.
Isaiah 50:7For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Romans 1:16-17For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith
2 Timothy 2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The prophet Isaiah said, “I shall not be ashamed.”
The apostle Paul said, “I am not ashamed.”
The counsel to Timothy was that he should study to prove himself a workman who needs not to be ashamed.
Who should be ashamed?
Everyone who has lived and had the great opportunity to search for and find and know the truth about Jesus Christ; yet, they did not should be ashamed and will be ashamed.
Everyone who has been too busy following their self-centered dreams and goals, should be and will be ashamed.
Everyone who has a Bible which has not been well read with a humble attitude to know the truth, should be and will be ashamed.
Everyone who should have humbled themselves and prayed the prayer of repentance; and did not, should be and will be ashamed.
Everyone who should have listened to the voice of the Holy Spirit and received His indwelling and cleansing power; but did not, should be and will be ashamed.
Everyone who should have fasted and prayed to know the perfect will of God for their life; but did not, should be and will be ashamed.
Everyone who should have walked in the light of truth when the light came to them; but did not, should be and will be ashamed.
Are you ashamed and should you be ashamed about how little you know about the Bible, the Word of God?
Are you ashamed and should you be ashamed about how little you know about the will of God for your life?
Acts 17:10-1210 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
With whom will you be compared, the Thessalonicans or the Bereans?
The Thessalonicans resisted and fought against the truth which was preached to them. The Bereans embraced the message of Jesus Christ and searched the scriptures daily to prove those things which they heard.
What have you done with the message of Jesus Christ?
What have you done with the message of holiness which produces the “fruit of the Spirit?”
Have you searched and studied the scriptures to prove what is truth?
Mark 8:3834 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Are you ashamed to let sinners know that you are a Christian?
If you are ashamed of Jesus and His gospel, then He is ashamed of you and you cannot be saved or have eternal life. We must boldly take our stand for righteousness in this adulterous and sinful generation.
Jesus Christ wants to give you the Holy Spirit to teach you the knowledge and wisdom you need to stand for holiness, righteousness and truth. God wants to teach you how to work for His glory. Do you have time to listen? Are you willing to be taught, instructed and corrected? Someday, you will be ashamed if you do not listen and obey.
Romans 9:31-3331 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Many people are trying to work out their own salvation by doing what they think they should be doing without listening to the Holy Spirit. They are obeying some “rules” which they think will result in a heavenly reward. However, they are following men’s rules instead of following the counsel of the Word and the Spirit.
The Jews, in the days of Christ, were following after the law of righteousness, but they did not attain to the law of righteousness; because, they were doing it their way instead of God's way. Those Jews were in bondage to their own religious rules. They had a form of godliness but they did not have the “power” of a redeemed and sanctified life. They did not submit to the instructions of Jesus Christ. They rejected the humble route which leads to the love and mercy of God.
Full salvation will equip the Christian to bear the fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit. It is available to you and if you fail to obtain it, you will someday be ashamed that you passed by the way of truth and did not pursue it.
Philippians 1:20According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
When I meet Jesus at the Judgment Seat, I don't want to be ashamed of anything which is on my record. I want Jesus to be able to present me to His Father, faultless and blameless. I don’t want to be ashamed.
Jude V17-2517 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
To be “faultless” is to be holy, living free from willful sin. If you are walking in obedience to all the light of truth which God has revealed to you, then you are faultless and blameless. If you are living free from willful sin, then you have no need to be ashamed. You can boldly come before God and receive the help you need in every area of your life.
2 Timothy 1:6-96 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began
Don’t be ashamed of Jesus or His people.
Hebrews 11:13-1613 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city
Jesus will not be ashamed to be called your God, if you are walking in the light of His gospel.
1 John 2:28-29And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
If you feel that you will be ashamed at the coming of Jesus Christ, I would like to ask you a question: Is it because of a lack of faith or a lack of obedience?
If you are being obedient to the counsel and leadership of the Holy Spirit, then you must resist and rebuke the devil who comes to accuse you in your mind.
If you are not giving Jesus Christ your wholehearted service, then you should be and will be ashamed.
