The Christian Foundation

What is a foundation?  It is the beginning of a thing.  It is the first thing that is set in place.

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.
OT:7225 HEBREW> re'shiyth (ray-sheeth'); the first, in place, time, order or rank

What happened before Genesis chapter One verse One?
Who can tell me what book of the Word of God precedes, goes before, the book of Genesis?

If the Word of God does not contain information about a certain place, person or thing, then we should not try to speak about those things of which we have no information.  The beginning of a thing is its foundation.  And, the foundation of a thing is the first thing, the fact and reality of the support and the base of what is built thereafter.

Matthew 13:34-35
34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

In the beginning, in the mind of God, at the time of the creation of all things, the plan of salvation existed in its complete fullness.  No person has any knowledge of things which go further back than the beginning.  Anytime a person begins to talk to you about what happened in heaven before the beginning, you should not believe what they say.  Satan is a liar.  Don’t forget that important fact.  Satan likes to cause people to believe that he did certain things before the record starts in Genesis 1:1.  He is a liar.  Many false preachers teach their erroneous religious ideas about things for which there is no scriptural support.

I am very confident of the following statement:  Nowhere in the Holy Scriptures do we have any record or statement of what happened before Genesis 1:1.  We do know this:  God had a plan for this world, for mankind and for the salvation of souls “from the foundation, from the beginning of the world.”

Matthew 25:34
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Our heavenly Father prepared and provided a plan of salvation for you from the foundation of the world.  We know nothing of what may have taken place prior to that beginning, that foundation, that first thing.

Each person who passes through this time world has a beginning with God.  God has given each person life.  All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  No person lives through their childhood and comes into adulthood without realizing that they have been a sinner and in need of repentance and forgiveness.  Therefore, all who have sinned have died.  The wages of sin is death.  Many who have died spiritually, have been born again, resurrected to newness of life.  We have had a new beginning.  If by faith and obedience we have been born again into the family of God, we have laid the foundation, the beginning of a holy relationship with God.  Upon that holy foundation we are exhorted to be wise master builders.

Psalms 87:1-6
1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.
4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.
5 And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.
6 The Lord shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.

Where is God’s spiritual foundation?  It can be found in His holy mountains, in Mount Zion, in the city of God where “this man was born there.”’  In the Old Testament, God’s holy mountain was Mt. Sinai and Mount Jerusalem where God met with the children of Israel and gave them understanding of His laws and commandments.  In the New Testament, God’s holy mountain is the spiritual church of God.  In the true church of God, you can find the truth of Jesus Christ who is the foundation for our personal relationship with God.  The foundation of salvation is found in the house of God where true ministers teach the way of holiness.

Psalms 102:24-27
24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Of old hast God laid the foundation of the earth.  And, of old hast God laid the foundation of the plan of salvation by His Son Jesus Christ.  If you have not begun with Jesus, then you have had no foundation or beginning with God.  Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to lay a foundation of truth in you?

1 Corinthians 3:9-13
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

The only sure foundation we have is the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  However, we do know that some people are trying to build false doctrines upon the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  These false doctrines are the work of men who are using wood, hay and stubble which will not stand against the fiery judgments of the Holy Spirit.  It is your responsibility to make sure that you are building with silver, gold and precious stones which will stand the fire of God.

Proverbs 10:24-25
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

The beginning we have with God is an eternal beginning.  It should never end.
Truth is eternal.  It will not perish.  It will not change.  The wicked will perish and be no more; but, the saints should never fall back into perdition.  Jude 24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,”

Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

God can not lie.  The foundation which God has established in Zion is a “tried stone.”  It is a sure foundation.  He that believeth will be careful what he builds on this foundation.

Zechariah 12:1
The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

God has not only laid the foundation of the earth; He has also laid the foundation of salvation for the spirit of man.  God has designed the plan.  He has set the boundaries.  The Word of God is the book of instructions and the pattern which we must follow if we will build the truth.

John 17:24
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

God, the Father, loved His Son Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world and He has put all power and authority in His Son Jesus Christ.  Jesus became the foundation, the beginning of all things for the people of God.  By faith in Jesus, we are born again, created a new creature in Christ Jesus.  Acts 17:28 says: “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; “  Jesus is our beginning.  He is our only foundation.

Ephesians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

God chose Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world.  He also chose us in Him, Jesus, before the foundation of the world.  It is not the will of God that any should perish and be eternally lost, separated from God.

Hebrews 4:3-6
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

The works of salvation and the plan of God “were finished from the foundation of the world.”

Hebrews 6:1-3
1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.

How do you lay the foundation for your salvation?  By repentance from the dead works of sin and by faithful obedience to the will of God.  This is the foundation, this is the first works, that you repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

What is the seal which signifies that the foundation of God has been laid?  That the person repents and departs from iniquity.  Holiness is always the first thing with God.  If an individual does not depart from iniquity, then the foundation of salvation has not been laid in his soul.

1 Peter 1:18-23
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The plan of salvation was not an after-thought which had to be implemented after Adam and Eve sinned.  It was foreordained before the beginning/foundation of the world.  We do not need to know anything about what happened before the beginning, the foundation of the world.  Do not let Satan confuse your mind with foolish questions and doctrines which have no scriptural explanation.  Satan loves to make people believe that he was once beautiful, bright and had his beginning in the heaven of God’s dwelling place.  To be very clear and simple, the Bible does not tell us anything of the origin of God, The Son, The Holy Spirit, Satan or other spiritual being.   Don’t clutter your mind with foolish questions.  Have faith in God, believe His word, obey His word and live a holy life.

Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The plan to send Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to be the sacrifice for the sins of mankind was foreordained from the very beginning.  He was a “Lamb slain” four thousand years before it happened.  Jesus came and fulfilled the great plan of God to deliver us from all our sins and make us holy for the glory of God.

Is it essential that every child of God understand all the mysteries of the Kingdom of God?

The Word of God teaches us to get knowledge and understanding.  However, faith in God, obedience to what has been revealed and holiness are the keys to holiness and eternal life.  We may not be able to answer every question.  The most important question is: Are you walking in all the light which the Holy Spirit has revealed to you?  Are you living a holy life, free from willful disobedience?

God created you to be a free moral person.  You have been given the liberty to choose whatever you want to do and believe.  As such, you are the responsible keeper of your own soul.  My desire is not to force you to agree with me, but rather that you would accept the gospel of Jesus Christ as perfect and the best guide and principle for your life.

It is very important for the salvation and safety of your soul that you understand the definition, the meaning and the application of these seven principal words in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sin is the willful, disobedient actions and attitudes of men and women which separate them from God and bring death to the soul.

Noah Webster 1828: The voluntary departure of a moral agent from a known rule of rectitude or duty prescribed by God; any voluntary transgression of the divine law, or violation of a divine command; a wicked act; iniquity.  Sin is either a positive act in which a known divine law is violated, or it is the voluntary neglect to obey a positive divine command.

1 John 1:5-2:1
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1 John 3:4-9
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Repentance is the acceptable attitude of that person who has been convicted of his sins by the Holy Spirit and has vowed with godly sorrow to turn from all his sins and forthwith do that which is just and righteous.

Noah Webster 1828: In Theology, the pain, regret or affliction which a person feels on account of his past conduct, because it exposes him to punishment.  This sorrow proceeding merely from the fear of punishment, is called legal repentance, as being excited by the terrors of legal penalties, and it may exist without an amendment of life.  Real penitence: sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence.  This is called evangelical repentance, and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.  Repentance is a change of mind or a conversion from sin to God.  Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that it has offended God.
Matthew 4:17
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Acts 3:19
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Revelation 2:5
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Revelation 3:19-21
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

2 Corinthains 7:10-11
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Faith is that strong confidence in the goodness of God which moves one to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to meet all of ones needs in this life.

Noah Webster 1828: The assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, resting on his authority and veracity, without other evidence; the judgment that what another states or testifies is the truth.
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 10:38-11:2
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Works of righteousness are essential to the maintenance of the soul’s relationship with God by obeying all of the commandments of God.

Noah Webster 1828: To labor; to obtain by diligence; to produce by labor, action or exertion.

James 2:17-22
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Justification is that divine, legal status wherein the soul of man has been reconciled to God by repentance on man’s part and mercy and forgiveness on God’s part.

Noah Webster 1828:  The act of justifying; a showing to be just or conformable to law, rectitude or propriety; vindication, defense.  In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous on account of the atonement of Christ.

Sanctification is the term applied to the second work of grace whereby the Holy Spirit purges the soul of man from the inherited carnal nature.   The Holy Spirit is given to the justified person who makes himself a sacrifice to be totally consecrated to the will of God for the remainder of his life.

Noah Webster 1828:  The act of making holy.  In an evangelical sense, the act of God’s grace by which the affections of men are purified or alienated from sin and the world, and exulted to a supreme love to God.

Synonym for sanctification: holiness, blameless, perfection, entire consecration, filled with the Holy Spirit, baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Perfect love does not entirely exist in justification because there is in the justified state an abiding fear of failure.   Perfect love casts out fear.  The carnal nature, which remains in the heart of the justified person, is a troubling, inward foe which disturbs the peace of the soul.  Sanctification brings perfect love and perfect peace, confidence and assurance of victory.

Acts 8:14-17
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Unity is a divine relationship enjoyed by two or more individuals who have been sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit.  By their self-sacrificing attitude and consecration the children of God are able to labor together in love for the good of all others.

Noah Webster 1828: In Christian theology, oneness of sentiment, affection or behavior.  Unity of faith, is an equal belief of the same truths of God, and possession of the grace of faith in like form and degree.  Unity of spirit, is the oneness which subsists between Christ and his saints, by which the same spirit dwells in both, and both have the same disposition and aims; and it is the oneness of Christians among themselves, united under the head, having the same spirit dwelling in them, and possessing the same graces, faith, love, hope, etc.

Love is the greatest virtue which is given by God to the justified child of God.  It is active in the new convert providing a powerful influence over every action and attitude.  It is perfected in the cleansing of the carnal nature.  It makes increase of itself by experience and divine revelation.

Noah Webster 1828: Love:  VERB:  In a general sense, to be pleased with; to regard with affection, on account of some qualities which excite pleasing sensations or desire of gratification.  We love whatever gives us pleasure and delight, whether animal or intellectual; and if our hearts are right, we love God above all things, as the sum of all excellence and all attributes which can communicate happiness to intelligent beings.  In other words, the Christian loves God with the love of complacency in his attributes, the love of benevolence towards the interests of his kingdom, and the love of gratitude for favors received.  [Note: the use of the word complacency is meant to convey the complete and satisfactory acceptance of the attributes of God, without any desire to change or improve them.  Webster defines “complacency” as:  a feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to make them better.]

Noah Webster 1828:  Love: NOUN:  An affection of the mind excited by beauty and worth of any kind, or by the qualities of an object which communicates pleasure, sensual or intellectual.  It is opposed to hatred.   The love of God is the first duty of man, and this springs from just views of his attributes or excellence of character, which afford the highest delight to the sanctified heart.

The English word “love” is used to communicate the thought of three different categories of affection.  In the Greek language these three categories are identified as:
1.    Agape:  the sacrificial and devout affection for God and mankind
2.   Phila: the benevolent and emotional care for one’s family
3.   Eros: the amorous physical and emotional attraction; a sexual desire

It is possible, and rather common, for a person to possess the affections of “phila” and “eros” without any measure of “agape” love.  Many people love their family and experience sexual attraction.  These affections may be experienced with purely selfish desires and be entirely void of that agape love which is motived by divine grace and charity.

1 John 4:20-5:3
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth:

Are these characteristics of love and charity evident in your daily life?  Do you treat all other people according to the criteria set forth in these divine statements?

The Symbols of Light and Darkness

There is the literal reality of light and darkness and there is metaphorical or symbolic light and darkness.  The symbol of light is used to signify truth and the presence of God.  The symbol of darkness is used to signify evil and the work of Satan.

Genesis 1:1-5
1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

No person or spirit can create light or darkness, other than God.  Spiritual light and darkness is the consequence of good and evil choices.  No man can create spiritual light; but, by obedience to righteousness God will bring spiritual light into the life of that man who hears and obeys His voice.  Likewise, no man can create darkness; but by disobedience to the laws of God, iniquity will bring spiritual darkness into the life of that man who rebels against God.  Therefore, spiritual light and darkness is the consequence of good and evil choices.

Light and darkness cannot coexist.  Good and evil cannot coexist.  When good is present, evil must be absent.  When evil is present, good will be absent.  When God make light and darkness, He separated them.  He divided them from each other.

Matthew 6:22-24
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Just as no man can serve two masters, no man can be in light and in darkness at the same time.  If any man would have a single purpose to know God and keep His commandments then his life would be full of the light of truth.  But, if the heart of any man would be full of evil, then his life will be full of spiritual darkness.

The works of darkness are the results of darkness being taken into the heart.  When the evil works are in the attitudes of the heart, they will eventually be manifested the actions of the person who walks in darkness.

Matthew 4:12-17
12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

“The people which sat in darkness saw great light.”  They did not make the light.  They did not cause the light to appear.  It was the will of God for these people at this time to see the great light of truth.  It was the will of God at this time to bring the light of salvation to the people of this world.

If you want to be delivered from the evil of darkness in your life, you must be obedient to the light of truth when it is revealed to you by the Holy Spirit of God.

The apostle John said in 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

No person can know and understand the light of truth unless the Holy Spirit reveal and teach that light.  This gospel must be revealed to you.  It is not achieved through academic study.  There are many learned theologians who are walking in darkness and have not been delivered from the power of darkness.  There are many learned and highly educated professors teaching in the universities and schools who write books and teach religious classes and yet they do not have the light of God illuminating their minds and hearts to know the truth.

Ephesians 5:6-14
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Is it possible to be deceived by vain words?  If it were not possible then why would the apostle Paul warn us to not let it happen to us?  There are men of renown, men of great religious reputation, who use eloquent words to deceive the people into believing that they can be a sinner, commit sin, and be saved from the penalty of sin at the same time.

If you are a Christian, then you must walk as a child of the light and as a child of the day.  You must separate yourself from the unfruitful works of darkness and God will give you the wisdom, knowledge and grace to do just that.  You cannot do wrong and be right.

If you are one of those who have believed the false prophets and have believed that you can be both good and evil and the same time, you have been deceived.  You cannot have light and darkness at the same time.  You cannot drink sweet water and bitter water from the same fountain.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

As children of the light, we wrestle against the children and rulers of darkness.  The weapons of our warfare are spiritual and not material.  We are at war with the workers of evil.  We do not submit to Satan or yield to his temptations.

Colossians 1:9-13
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all apatience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

I thank God that He has made me partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.  Our reward is eternal life in the presence of the Sun of righteousness.

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

We have been called out of darkness.  There is no evil works of darkness in our life.  They that sleep, sleep in the night.  We are not of the night.  We are the children of the day.  Our works are in the light of Sun of righteousness.

1 John 2:8-11
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

If you do not have mercy, compassion, forgiveness and “the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith meekness, temperance, then you are not walking in the light of truth.  Any evil which displaces any part of the fruit of the spirit is spiritual anathema and plunges the person into the darkness of Satan’s kingdom.

Jude v. 6
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

False prophets which have left their holy vocation shall be punished with everlasting chains under darkness.  Angels are messengers of God and must be avenues of light to the people who are seeking to find the light of truth.  Sadly, many angels, men of God sent to proclaim the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ have fallen away from the truth and left their holy calling.  They walk in darkness while they live in this world.

Revelation 16:10
And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

There is no light in the Kingdom of darkness, it is full of darkness.  Your life is either full of darkness or full of light.  There is no middle ground for the state of the soul.

Where are you?  Are you walking in the light of truth; or, are you walking in spiritual darkness?
