Have you ever noticed what poor health sinners experience? Sinners look older than their years. They have a higher incident rate of diseases and sicknesses than the children of God. Alcohol destroys the liver, the stomach and brain. Nicotine in tobacco destroys the lungs and throat, etc. and is a common cause of various cancers. Fornication and sexual immorality often result in Aids, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and other viral sexually transmitted infections.
Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
The way of transgressors is hard on the body and mind and destructive to the soul and spirit of those who are the servants of sin.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
The Word of God tells us that God is angry with the wicked every day. There are terrible consequences to living a wicked life. The sinner will not go unpunished. Be not deceived, God will not be mocked; whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. If you sow the seeds of sin, you will reap destruction.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The whole world lies in wickedness. Sinners are far more numerous than Saints. The real fact is that most people are going to hell because of their disobedience and rejection of the God who created them. Religious sinners, social sinners, “good-ole-boy” sinners are all on their way to destruction in an eternal hell.
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Who are these that are “none that doeth good, no, not one?” Is that statement directed at the whole world, both Christian and Sinner? Does this judgment against men apply to those who have been justified and sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ? Surely the answer is No!!! These statement are directed at the fool and to those who have rejected God and gone away backwards into wickedness.
1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
This passage explains and teaches us that the category of people to whom these words are referring are “the children of men” and the “fool” and the “workers of iniquity.” This passage is not referring to the children of God or to those who have been faithful servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Are you an enemy of the cross of Christ? Do you despise the crucified life which God has called us to live in this world? Are you willing to suffer the persecution and rejection of family and friends for the glory of being a child of God and a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ?
2 Peter 2:1-3
1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Think about Adam's disobedience concerning the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. What was the consequence for his sin?
Think about Cain for his envy and murder of his brother Abel. He became an outcast and a vagabond, separated from God.
Think about Sampson, who because of his lust and disobedience lost his strength and eye sight and was imprisoned to labor as a slave.
Then there was King Saul who died in war because of his disobedience.
Also King David whose child died because of his sin concerning Bathsheba and Uriah.
And there was Nabal in 1 Samuel 25 the husband of Abigail whom the Lord slew for his arrogance.
How about the prophet Eli and his sons who died under the curse of their sins.
Don't forget Judas Iscariot who committed suicide for his betrayal of Jesus Christ.
And King Nebuchadnezzar, whose sound mind God took away and made him like an animal for his pride and for exalting himself as if He was God.
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
Woe to that person with whom God becomes their enemy. Remember God destroyed the very same people whom He had led out of Egyptian bondage, because they rebelled and worshiped false gods.
4 Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
5 And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
6 And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
Disobedience and rebellion against God will cause God to fight against you and destroy you in your sins. Not only will Satan, the Destroyer, utterly destroy you, so also will God whom you have refused and rejected.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
If you are still committing willful sin, then you are still spiritually dead in your sins and trespasses. You are living under the curse of sin which is spiritual death. You do not have eternal life, being separated from God by your iniquities.
